Nella Roma antica era una tavoletta di cera cancellata in modo da poter essere usata per riscrivervi sopra. Nel senso comune, questa espressione allude all'azzeramento di una data situazione, per ripartire da capo. Ecco un esempio di "tabula rasa" avvenuto 67 anni fa a 700 chilometri da Tallinn, dopo che l'Armata Rossa entrò nella città tedesca di Königsberg (inglobata nell'Unione Sovietica e ribattezzata Kaliningrad un anno dopo).

My research of Syria led me to read stories about what happened to the Armenians over there and in Turkey. That's another example of a tabula rasa. Also what happened in Lemberg, where the houses remained but the people completely disappeared. It's sad and morbidly fascinating, and I always get a feeling of how unnecessary it all was.
RispondiEliminaMany people are forgetting those tragedies, happened here and there not long ago. But - who knows - probably it is better in this way. Differently, there would be an endless feeling of hate.
